The DuPage Regional Office of Education (ROE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ivette M. Dubiel as the Executive Director of Equity and Center for Professional Learning, effective July 1, 2019.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Dubiel join us at the ROE,” stated Dr. Darlene Ruscitti, regional superintendent for DuPage County Schools. “In our work ahead, Ivette will be a key leader as we look to support our schools, our educators and our students.”
In the newly created position, Dr. Dubiel will guide and support the forty-two public school districts in DuPage County on issues of equity, school safety and various professional development grants and opportunities.
“I am honored and excited to join the amazing team at the DuPage ROE,” stated Dr. Dubiel. “Their expertise and commitment to districts is highly valuable. These partnerships positively impact the schooling experience for all students, and I am humbled to be a part of the service leadership and support.”
As the second largest county in Illinois, the DuPage ROE will continue to lead efficient and accurate operations, and Dr. Dubiel will be a critical partner in the work. She will work closely on a number of committees as well as with the Illinois State Board of Education. For over two years, Dr. Dubiel participated in and co-facilitated the DuPage ROE Equity and Excellence Committee. She founded and continues to lead the Illinois Coalition of Educational Equity Leaders and was the founding president for the Illinois Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents.
Dr. Dubiel currently serves as the Director of Educational Equity for Indian Prairie School District, the fourth largest school district in Illinois. Prior to her current role, she served as the Assistant Director of Special Programs for Community Unit School District 308, wherein, she oversaw the English Language Learners’ Department, Academically Talented programming and Parent Outreach. She also served as a classroom ESL and general education teacher. Her unique professional background also includes serving as an investigator with the Chicago Police Department, Office of Professional Standards, and the State of Illinois, Office of Executive Inspector General. Dr. Dubiel is an adjunct instructor with two local universities. She has three master’s degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology and Aurora University. Her research and doctorate degree from Lewis University centered on equity and social justice.
