Current themes in gifted education are talent development, equity and excellence; these pertain to all learners, including those from typically underserved groups. Students of high ability, whether identified as gifted or not, require differentiated learning experiences in order to develop their optimal potential. The DuPage ROE provides several resources to support educators in this area:
- Gifted Network Meetings facilitate ongoing professional development and collaborative conversations on topics relevant to the field.
- Educator Workshops provide a space for in-depth exploration of content for both teachers and administrators.
ESSA includes provisions to support gifted and talented students, encourage teacher training in gifted education, and promote attending to underserved learners. Title II funds may be used to provide training in gifted education strategies to classroom teachers and administrators.
